You may recall the story of the mother who came to our clinic weeks ago. She was staring straight ahead, not making sense and filthy dirty. She had this little baby in her lap. After the doctor examined her, she talked even “crazier.” I knew she was involved in Voodoo.

She told the doctor that she had five children die and that her little girl “disappeared.” We called Social Services in Haiti because we were afraid to send the baby home with her. They said, “Go to her house and get the baby,” and that they would come to our orphanage to do his Birth Certificate.

After she left, we went down to her house with two nurses and a Security Guard. Her neighbors came out and said, “We are so glad you came. She said she was going to take a knife and kill the baby!”

She let our nurses leave with the baby. Zachary Burnette is now in good hands! His eye is truly on the “little sparrow!”
