As you know, Love A Child shares food each month with other ministries and organizations throughout Haiti.  The little guy in the photo below is helping unload boxes and boxes of food for Karen Bultje.  She is the director of Coram Deo, which is one of the many organizations that receive food each month from Love A Child.

Your gifts are being multiplied and reaching far and wide.  This is just one of many of the organizations that receives food monthly.  Karen sent a note thanking Love A Child for this donation of food and I wanted to share her note with you.  She also shared photos and a very sad story about an eighteen-year-old girl in her note.  The note and photos are below.

Note from Karen…
Thank you for donating to us 50 cases of Feed My Starving Children Manna Packs. When we drove into our yard with the pickup truck full with boxes of food the children in our school program cheered.  In no time at all they had the truck unpacked. Here are a couple of photos of our eager students carrying the boxes into the kitchen. Not only does this donation help our school program by enabling us to provide a meal to our students, but it also helps us in our outreach to the community with people who come to us for medical help.

Just after we had stored the cases of food in our food depot one of our workers came inside and told me that there was someone outside with a very bad leg and that I should come out right away. Parked in front of our house was a tap-tap and inside was an 18-year-old girl with a seriously swollen leg. The family who were accompanying her inside the tap-tap came from the Cayes area and the family was very poor. This girl had been sick for the last couple of months and the family had no money to seek out medical care. Today the family came into Port-au-Prince looking for help. One of our workers accompanied the family to Bernard Mevs Hospital, and this young girl was admitted to the hospital. The surgeons will be amputating her leg tonight. Bernard Mevs Hospital receives medical teams each week to work alongside the Haitian medical staff.  We bring food to the hospital for families that we are trying to help. This young girl and her family will be receiving the food that we cook from your donations of food. Like Sherry said this morning “one finger can not hold a kalalou.”  Thank you for being part of the hand to help this girl. Please keep her and her family in prayer. Here are a couple photos of her and her leg. It is sad that the poor need to suffer so. Your assistance eases the suffering of people like this girl.
God Bless You,
Karen Bultje, Director Coram Deo

It makes me so sad that people in Haiti must suffer with such horrible infections and conditions that could be easily controlled or prevented with medical care.

This young girl lost her leg, but not her life.  The food that you help get to Haiti is providing healthy nourishing meals for her and her family.  Please pray about how you can help Love A Child continue to get food to the poor throughout Haiti.  Click the button below to give now.

Thank you for your heart of compassion and caring for the people of Haiti.

Love,
Sherry
