“In Good Hands…”

There’s a song that says, “I’m in Good Hands…” This is the story of Madamn Gertha, a poor mother who lost three children due to being in a poor village with no hospital and finding out that, she “was in Good Hands,” all along…

Madamn Gertha had worked very hard to keep her family alive, but the area called “Tifon” was an isolated area that had very few trees, poor land, and hardly any water. Her husband, Samuel Exume, was a farmer, so you can understand why food was so scarce. They live in a tiny house with four people. The roof leaks… It is so dark inside that it is hard to tell when it is daylight and when it is dark. But only by the big holes in the ceiling is how she can tell it is dark.

Madamn Gertha had five children and three died. Since there is no hospital or clinic in the area, the first died after birth, the second child died of something mysterious, and the third child died of an umbilical cord hemorrhage because someone had cut the cord with a rusty object. The distance from the mountains to go to a hospital was so long that the child died en route.

Gertha has lived a life of grief, sadness, and despair… The day that she brought Wilclef and our staff gave her food for Wilclef, it was a blessing.

Wilclef doesn’t eat often… Days ago she noticed that her fifth child, Wilclef wasn’t eating at all. In fact, he was almost dead. She, herself was sick and had no money to take him to the hospital. Not only had he “not eaten for several days,” but he also had a fever and diarrhea. His mother was broke. She got down on her knees and asked God for help because she didn’t want to lose another child. She found someone who told her about our Jesus Healing Center and the Malnutrition Center, so she borrowed enough money to get to Love A Child.

When she arrived, she was greeted with “open arms” and love and compassion. After a thorough exam, our doctor concluded that Wilclef had to be hospitalized at our Malnutrition Center. Madamn Gertha was afraid, but she knew that Wilclef would be “in good hands.” All of a sudden, she had peace in her heart. She had a long journey back, but she knew that because of Jesus, her child was “in good hands.”

Today, because you have given to the poor, you also, “are in good hands.” Psalms 41:1-3 declares seven supernatural promises to those who help the poor.

Thank you and may God richly bless you.
