The Story of Little Dorcelus Jefferline

When a Haitian father abandons his children, it can easily lead to death. The mother, having several children, cannot leave her children to “get a job.” And poor Haitian mothers have little education, so “not having a job” can mean “starvation or death.”

Here is little Dorcelus Jefferline, age four. She seems “fat and healthy,” but she is full of “water.” She has not been getting protein, so she is now “bones and water.” This can lead to kidney failure also. (We have three children in our orphanage who survived Marasmus malnutrition.)

Haitian fathers “tell their wives and children” they are going to the D.R. to look for a job, but they never come back.

Finally, her mother brought her to our Jesus Healing Center!! When the doctor examined her, he knew she would not make it unless treated in our Malnutrition Clinic! She was so weak, you could not hear her little voice… Her hair was turning red, a bad sign. Her skin was dry and wrinkled. There were scratches on her skin; she weighed less than 11.4kg (about 25 pounds).

She also had diarrhea and vomiting and was “close to death!” We found out that her mother had been giving her “bread soaked in sugar water!!”

We are thankful to Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope, who sponsored the building of the Malnutrition Clinic and all the furnishings. They also sponsor the operating cost of our Jesus Healing Clinic!!! We are thankful to our partners for their prayers, support, and love!
