Baby Esther was only three months old when her mother Madamn Jesusula arrived in front of our gate here in Haiti. With Madamn Jesula was her other little daughter, Widlene, age three. This poor woman knocked on our gate, hoping to find someone to “take care of her children” when she died… and she felt as though she was dying at that moment!

We sent Madamn Jesula to the hospital and found out that her problem was that she was starving, anemic, and frail, and so were her children! We paid for her hospital bills and brought her and her children to our orphanage. They have been with us ever since. Baby Esther is now 16 years old and she is one of the best students in her class.

Esther is “all girl!” She can really dress up so pretty for church, but, “put her on the basketball court” or on the “soccer field,” and she is “ruthless!” She will gladly play against the boys! She has a lot of talent in dance and she loves to sing! I think it’s amazing to watch Esther and the girls “play so rough and knock it out,” on the soccer field or the basketball field, and then, in 30 minutes, she comes out looking like a “beautiful, elegant girl!!!!” A beauty queen on the basketball court!

Esther’s dream is to be a veterinarian. She loves animals and has a lot of patience with them. Her only problem is that there is no university where she can study to be one. So, we are doing some studies as to where we can send her. She “really loves animals” and has lots of patience with them!! I think one of her best talents is that “this girl can cook!” She and her sister, Widlene, are always making a new recipe! We love Esther, and hope and pray that the Lord will lead her in the direction to follow her heart! We love Esther!
