“Afraid to Give…”

Bobby and I have served the Lord in many areas of the ministry. We have preached on street corners, ministered on the radio for years, pastored a church, held revivals under big Gospel tents, and for the past 30 plus years, have been living in Haiti as full-time missionaries. One thing we have learned is that many people are “afraid to give.” They really don’t believe what the Word of God says in Luke 6:38, “Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure pressed down, and shaken together and ‘RUNNING OVER’ shall men give unto your bosom.”

However, the “little widow woman, in I Kings 17:12 was getting ready to bake her last cake for her and her son, and die. But, she baked that last cake and gave it, and God blessed her abundantly and her “meal barrel” never went dry. She was not “afraid to give her last cake!”

In John 6:9, when the multitudes came to Jesus, one little boy gave all he had, five barley loaves and two small fishes. He gave all he had, because “he was not afraid to give!” And Jesus blessed it and fed over 5,000 men, women, and children, and had twelve baskets left… and who do you suppose He gave all that to? Some people are “afraid to give,” but other people “live to give!!!” Today, don’t be afraid to give! Instead, “live, to give!” It’s much more exciting!!!!
