What a strong, Christian young lady Dumolia (Dimelia) turned out to be! She was born in the mountains of Haiti. I can remember the day her daddy brought her down the mountain to our orphanage…

At that time, she may have been “around seven or eight years old.” She had been playing and fell into a large metal pot that the Haitian ladies use to wash clothes in. The problem was that these huge pots of boiling water are easy for a child to “fall into!” That’s what happened to Dumolia. The “chodia” (large metal pot) was on the floor in the little house where her family lived. Somehow, Dumolia fell into it! She was burned from her neck down to her waist. That meant “many trips to doctors and hospitals.”

We finally had the opportunity to send her to the States to a “burn center” in Boston. We even found a lady to care for her. She had many surgeries for her burn “grafts.” During this time, she began to learn English, and later she was able to attend an “English speaking” high school when she returned to Haiti. When she graduated, she had the opportunity to go to college in Jamaica. She is still in college there and very active in her church! We know that the Lord has a “great plan,” a “great future,” for Dumolia.
