Little one-year-old Roseberline is just one of the “out-patients” here at our Malnutrition Center. She is one year old and from the mountains of Peyi Pouri (a poor village high in the mountains). Since Peyi Pouri is a village with little rainfall and poor soil, they cannot grow much of anything, so many people cut down trees for charcoal. Due to having little food, Roseberline developed malnutrition. However, she did not meet the criteria to be an in-patient. Our pediatric nurse decided that she could go home with special milk formula and RUSF (Ready to Use Supplementary Food) peanut butter, a special food that was donated by our friends at MAP International.
One problem we are having is that the poor mothers, who live in Peyi Pouri and other “high mountain range areas,” say they cannot come back for their child checkups because they do not have the funds. We will take care of this problem and make sure they have the funds to come back every two weeks. We are “Love A Child” and this is what we do.
