This is what hungry, poor children in Haiti want more than anything.
If a school does not provide food, those children who come from the mountains will be sleepy and lethargic by 9:00 a.m. Mountain children usually have no food in the morning, so their parents will give them coffee with “sugar.” Since there is no protein, they will “crash” early and become too tired to learn. The Haitian creole proverb says, “an empty sack cannot stand.” It means, “when someone is hungry, they cannot learn, they cannot work, they cannot stand.” How true!
We have 18 Christian schools, but they are not in session due to the killings, the gunfire, the smoke from burning blockades, and gangs robbing people and threatening children. We pray each day that Haiti will find the peace it once had. Pray for Haiti, the missionaries, and the poor people. Bobby and Sherry
