Growing a garden is an exercise in faith.
When we labor to prepare soil, digging deep to turn the hardened layers of earth into a soft welcoming environment for our gardens’ seeds, aren’t we relying upon faith that the seeds will receive the right amount of moisture, along with the necessary amount of warmth, and that they will have the required nutrients for that seed to burst forth with the tiny new life contained within it? Sure, we are. That’s a lot of work to do without the strong belief that it will result in a harvestable crop or a bunch of wonderous flowers. We dig, we toil, and we labor, by faith, that the outcome will be very rewarding. God’s promise to us is that when we exercise such faith, He will reward us, whether it is from a nutritious harvest of vegetables, a beautiful vase of flowers, or even the warmth of a friendly response to us from someone we hardly even know. Living by faith is very rewarding. Try it.
