There is a common saying in Haiti about how difficult daily life is there: “Lavi a se yon konba.” (Life is a battle.) We were reminded of that this week as we noticed that the ATC’s daily work truck had 4 BAD tires! The harsh and severe conditions in Haiti had taken their toll on the tires of our important work truck. The ATC staff use the truck constantly, carrying materials, equipment, and people between the Agricultural Training Center, near the rear of the Gwo Maché Mirak marketplace, and the gardens and kitchens at Love A Child, a mile away. We knew we couldn’t go on the highway and endanger our equipment, staff, and other traffic. We had hit a “bump in the road…”

What would take us an hour to resolve in the U.S. ended up taking 3 days. And we had to “rob Peter to pay Paul” (Paul had the tires) to buy the tires because we had no budget for it. If you would like to help us “pay back Peter” the $626 for the tires, please donate to our Sustainability Outreach. God never promised our roads would not be “bumpy,” but He did promise to always provide. He might just use you to do it.
