Sweet young Mackenson has really struggled all of his life…
Born in “Covant,” the highest mountain village that we work in, that in itself would have been enough of a challenge to survive, but Mackenson has faced many other challenges in his life. While doing a Mobile Medical Clinic, I looked up to see a poor mountain man holding a young toddler whose face and legs were swollen with Kwashiorkor malnutrition. His legs were so bad that they were “splitting open.” I was in shock when his father said he was “seven!”
We brought Mackenson down the mountain and took care of him until he regained his strength and began looking like a “normal little boy.” However, about three years ago, he had a stroke, which left him partially paralyzed. He had to learn how to walk again and how to use his arm. He still walks with a limp, and his arm is not “normal,” but he goes to school and makes good grades! He is sweet and shy, but he insists that he will be a teacher!! We’re saving a job just for him!!
We love Mackenson, and we know that God has a plan for him!! Sherry
