ATC Staff Staying Very Busy…

ATC Staff Staying Very Busy…

The past two weeks have been very busy and productive for the Agricultural Training Center staff and students. In addition to the staff’s regular harvests of many fruits and vegetables for all 5 kitchens that serve all the areas of Love A Child, Wilner has been very busy with the 2-year ATC students who are learning and gaining hands-on experience in sustainable gardening and farming. The students worked alongside the ATC staff preparing to plant new crops in the ATC gardens and also the gardens at Love A Child.

They have also been helping with extensive preparation of planting beds in the Miracle Village family garden area adjacent to the ATC. They are helping the families learn how to install more appropriate drip irrigation systems for when they get a new upcoming solar water pump. The solar-powered pump will supply water to both the ATC and the family gardens. Everyone is very excited to have the new solar-powered pump so they can get away from dependence on the old diesel-powered pump that is expensive and unreliable.

Also, Wilner continued his lessons on soil conservation with a practical teaching session, focusing specifically on the “grass strip” technique to slow rainwater and conserve fragile soil. Your support of our Development for Sustainability programs is giving many Haitian families skills, training, and hope for a better life for generations. God bless you.
