Wouldn’t you know it… One pregnant lady’s placenta broke and blood gushed out! Even though we have wonderful midwives and a doctor on call, this was an emergency! Because of the roadblocks and burning tires, they had to put the pregnant lady in the back of our truck with a nurse, trying to hold the IV pole high in the air! They knew that if the street gangs saw her in this condition, they would let them go through! Our Haitian nurse was trying to hold on and keep the IV bottle high, and she almost fell out of the truck as it sped away to the hospital! Nothing is easy here in Haiti. The good news is that our midwives told us that they believe the lady will make it in time to the nearest hospital. Sherry
