Back to School After the Holidays

With the holidays over, it’s time for our Haitian children to go back to school. Every child, including little Zachary, will be ready to go. For the little boys, they get hair shaved off… completely! Everyone is busy making sure their uniforms are ready to go, and Widelene just went to our warehouse to get more notebooks, pencils, etc., and replace some torn book bags. Haitian children LOVE school!

When there is a pandemic, they may shut down for a while but there is no “online” work. Kids are always ready to go back to work!

For the younger kids, they all study together by class size. We have tutors that come from our school to give the children extra help, especially with math after school. Many of our children had malnutrition when we found them, so learning for them is more difficult.

They must aim for college or some type of work to make a living when they are older.

There is a lot of “memorizing” in Haitian schools. We can always hear the children reciting homework together, by memory. This is the way it’s done in Haiti.

Children must wear uniforms and there are restrictions on some “hair-dos.”

Children from the mountains love school even more! They get a hot meal at our schools!! And, we now have twenty children in college!! This keeps us on our knees! Ha!!

These children, and so many more, are the future of Haiti! We are “Love A Child!” This is what we do with your help!
