Construction Continues: New Malnutrition Center

Work on the new Malnutrition Center continues.

It is heartbreaking to see so many malnourished children and babies here in Haiti. Some of them are just “little skeletons.” They have marasmus malnutrition. Others come with tiny arms, swollen hands, face, and feet, and huge bellies full of water. They are just “bones and water.” This condition is very, very severe, and they will die without help.

In the past, with our old “Malnutrition Center,” we did not have the ability to allow mothers to stay for an extended period of time with their malnourished infants. We weighed and measured the babies, taught healthcare to the mothers, and sent food home.

However, our dream has always been to have the mothers stay with their babies until they reach their full weight. This is what will happen in our new Malnutrition Center. The babies will be seen by our pediatrician and then put on a diet, especially for them. The mothers will stay with their babies until they are well enough to leave.

In the meantime, we will provide job training for the mothers, so that when they leave, they will be able to feed their families. Sustainability… Teaching Haitians to help themselves.

We cannot even express in words what it meant to us when we found out that Joyce Meyer MinistriesHand of Hope wanted to sponsor the building of this Malnutrition Center! We were overwhelmed because they had already done so much to help. We praise God for this miracle!!!

Thank you, Bryon, from “The Mission Church” in Palm Bay, Florida, for all of your hard work. You are here at God’s perfect timing! Thank you to our Haitian workers Wadner, Fritznel, and Abraham! They are walking the dog!!

Before this year is over, the lives of many babies will be saved!

Love is something you do!
