Dorissant… Waiting for Pizza

Dorissant’s problem in life was like many, many other children. His mother died and his father abandoned him. When the neighbors found him “wandering around” the family’s hut, with no one to take care of him, they brought him to us. He has no one, no family except Love A Child.

Dorissant Gabriel is now 12 and tall for his age. (In fact, we can’t keep him in long pants or shoes!!) His desire is to be a mechanic. He is in 6th grade now, but will soon be out for the summer. He is a very obedient young man, never talks back, and never is afraid of work. He is up at 4:30 a.m., watering the flowers and plants, sweeping, dusting, disinfecting things, and is always ready to help! Today, I’m doing a “bifet inspection.” A bifet is a closet. Their rooms always look “fairly good” until I open their little closet. So, he may be busy tomorrow.

Dorissant loves to play soccer! He loves to “catch” balls. He is a fairly quiet kid and will do anything that is asked. Even with all the problems in Haiti, the gangs on the streets, the insecurity, and the many other problems, it is easier raising children in Haiti, if we keep them off the streets. They do not have the temptation for drugs. They all want to make money and save it, and they are obedient.

Dorissant and all our kids are waiting for one thing… the new “Pizza Restaurant” to open in Gwo Maché Mirak, near us!! Dorissant and all the kids, love pizza and it’s been a while since they had any.
