Emergency: Jackson is in the hospital

Emergency: Please pray

I just wanted to bring you up to speed on things. Jackson is in the ER in Santo Domingo.

I was at the airport in Santo Domingo, getting ready to fly back to the United States. The girls have athletic events tomorrow. The plan was to leave Phanise and Jackson here in Santo Domingo. Phanise called me and told me Jackson was seizing. I called his doctors, and they instructed us to call the ambulance. I left the airport and headed back to the apartment. By the time I got there, Jackson had calmed down but was incoherent.

When the ambulance arrived, he started to seize again. After the seizure subsided, they took Jackson in the ambulance. Phanise rode with him, and I followed in my truck.

His nephrologist and his neurologist are coming to check him out here at the hospital. He seems to be under control now.

His seizures were very violent. Phanise told me he was sleeping when she heard him cry out. He was sleeping on the sofa in the main room. She was in the kitchen. By the time she ran to him, he had already thrown himself onto the floor. There was blood everywhere. From what I can tell, he at least lost two teeth and probably has injuries to his mouth. I picked up a whole tooth from the floor; the other one was shattered in pieces.

The second seizure happened when the ambulance arrived and they were checking him out in the apartment. Phanise was prepared for this one and did an excellent job protecting him.

I think he is having seizures because his blood pressure is high, but I will wait to see what the doctor says. We take measurements a few times a day and forward the numbers to the doctors. The numbers this morning were high. But things seemed normal other than that. The doctor called for an increase in Nifedipine, but maybe it was too late.

Anyway, I will keep everyone posted as to what happens. We are in a holding pattern here. This hospital is very nice and modern.

Best,
Jesse
