Malnourished Children Haiti

Feeding the Malnourished Children in Haiti: 4-22-18 4:10 PM

This young girl is Fedna, the first time I saw her she had a huge, bloated belly, full of worms, red hair from starvation and was anemic. Many children here in Haiti have this condition. I have seen worms crawling out of their noses, their mouths, and their bottoms, even their knuckles.  Worms are easy to treat with worm medicine, as we treated Fedna. She is now a pretty young girl, going to school here in Fond Parisien. We de-worm all the children in our Love A Child Schools, and this is a real blessing.

Malnutrition is more difficult to treat and takes longer. There are two types of malnutrition: Kwashiorkor and Marasmus. The Kwashiorkor children are often bloated, and “fat looking,” but they are retaining lots of fluid due to lack of protein and vegetables in their diet. The thin, skeleton-looking children have Marasmus, they lack enough food to eat.

Both kinds of children and babies are treated in our Jesus Healing Center, as well as children with worms, burns, etc. We treat a lot of children in our “Mobile Medical Clinics” that reach into the regions beyond “where there is no doctor or nurse, not even an aspirin.”

We are thankful to Joyce Meyer Ministries — Hand of Hope who sponsors the operating cost of our Jesus Healing Center Clinic each month, and we are thankful to our friends who sponsor “Mobile Clinics” to the “regions beyond.” And, we are thankful to organizations such as MAP International and International Aid, who donated wonderful medicines that we can use in our Clinics and share with others. It takes all of us, working together, to feed and care for children, who suffer the most, here in Haiti. Thank you, everyone and God bless you. Bobby and Sherry
