Twins and triplets are more common in Haiti than in the United States. We have three sets of twins here at Love A Child! Daniel and his sister, Daniella, should have been twins… But, when their mother went to the “General Hospital” to have her babies, there had been a lot of riots and gunmen in the streets. When she arrived at the hospital, the men with guns stood in front of the hospital and told her to go home! Go Home? She was getting ready to give birth!

Sadly, when she went home, she began labor very quickly. Daniel and Daniella were born, but the third baby died with their mother. Their father could not raise these babies, so he asked us to take them in. I can say that Daniel, was the “scrawnier and ugliest baby,” I had ever seen! He looked like a little rat! I did not think he would ever gain weight… but he did and grew into a “bean-pole!” Over time, he actually looked cute! His sister, Daniella, is his best friend! They are “two peas in a pod!”

Daniel is a hard worker. He will do any kind of work here at the Orphanage. He respects all the mothers and works hard in school, he is a great student! What is his future? He says he wants to be a mechanic, but I can’t see that! I can’t see Daniel with grease all over his hands, but, who knows? He may surprise us all! When I asked his sister, what he likes to do, she said, “He loves to smile!” Ok, the kid who loves to smile, may turn out to be a mechanic and get grease on his hands!!! These twins are so special! All our kids are special! We love Daniel!!
