Shoes for School Children

“Only the shoes know if the socks have holes…” A Haitian Creole proverb.

Well, one thing is for sure… these beautiful new black school shoes will hide any “holes” the socks may have!! Getting heavy-duty black school shoes for the children is a real problem here in Haiti. In the United States, kids can wear tennis shoes with almost anything. But, in Haiti, the schools that are recognized by Education Nationale ask that the children wear black school shoes. Since the children walk over rough roads and of rocks to get to school, they wear out!

These shoes were made by an organization called, “REBUILD globally,” Sarah Sandsted is the director. They make these shoes and provide jobs, at the same time! What a thought!!! One of our friends heard about these and bought hundreds of them for us to give out in schools! Just look at the excitement on the faces of these young girls!!! They are smiling, laughing, and just having a wonderful time! What a huge gift!

A special thanks to Sarah and to the wonderful partner who remains anonymous, who bought all these shoes. We give all the Glory to God!!! We are just so excited about these shoes!!!
