Dear Friends,

We would like to share something on our hearts with you. As you may know, Haiti is in one of the worst “food crisis,” it has ever known. The constant rise of the “Haitian gourde,” against the U.S. dollar has made the cost of everything, especially food, double and triple in price. In addition to this, they are in a “political and economic crisis!” It is hard to comprehend this unless you are living in Haiti and see these people suffer and hear their stories day after day.

The poor Haitian people, especially mothers with children, face hungry faces each day. There are very few jobs available, so they sell things on the street or gather wood to make charcoal or gather plastic bottles to sell. It is hard enough for a single mother in the states, but even much harder for a poor, single, Haitian mother, especially at this time. We believe in feeding the hungry families, but we also believe in “sustainability, food for life!” Our whole desire is to help Haitians with food first, and then help bring them into “sustainability.”

This is Madamn Janise. She is a poor, single Haitian mother with four children. She lives in a mud hut and has no job. Her suffering is beyond words. She had “no hope.” We sent food to her and her children. A few days later, we sent money to her so that she could start a business and have “food for life.” The great thing is that one of our friends, Joel Trimble, prayed for her, and she found Jesus as her Saviour!
