It’s Like God Came Down From Heaven!

Beans are a wonderful source of protein for Haitian men, women, and children, but they are very expensive. And, due to bad soil and little rainfall, it is very difficult to grow them in Haiti or grow enough so that the price won’t be high. But the price is high, and the majority of poor Haitians cannot afford them.

With the help of our partners (some of you), we paid for a 20-foot container of pinto beans to be shipped to Haiti. It took quite a while to get this order and get them in Haiti, but they arrived just a couple of days ago. Now, we have “volunteers” working to fill plastic bags that are like a large “marmite” of beans. (A marmite is about the size of a large coffee can.) The Haitians can mix these beans with the Feed My Starving Children rice or plain rice, but Haitians love “beans and rice.” We have some employees that think they cannot live unless they have “beans and rice” every day! So, yes, these beans are a tremendous blessing. We want to thank each of you who gave towards this project. It will bless many people and make many mothers “praise the Lord” for this blessing!!!

As one poor Haitian mother said, “When you bring food, it’s like God came down from Heaven!”
