“Jesus Made Me Do It”

“Jesus Made Me Do It”

There are always strange things that happen in Haiti that don’t usually happen in the states. Take yesterday, for instance…
Bobby and I looked forward to a “quiet Sunday.” When in the late morning, our “front gate” security guard came up pounding on my door. (I had cut off my radio communication to get some peace and quiet.)

Yonel, our security guard, had brought this man up to see me. The man was just sitting quietly on a motor cart. Yonel was so angry, “Mdm Sherry! This man broke into the sidewall of the old Jesus Healing Center! Come and see…” I thought it was odd that the man just sat there and didn’t try to run away. It turns out that this man, Jocelyn Maxo, used to work for us. (I thought he looked familiar!)

We went down to the sidewall where the patients would come inside to wait for our clinic to open. We saw where he had taken a rock and knocked a big hole out of it!! I asked security if he had stolen anything? “No,” he said, but he went to the top floor and broke in and was “sweeping!!”
(He used to work for us before, but he scared a young woman. He had made her nervous, so he was fired.)

I asked Jocelyn, “Did you break into our wall?”
“Yes, I did!”
“How did you do that?”
“I used a big rock?”
“Why did you did you do that?”
“Jesus told me to do that?”
“Did Jesus tell you to go upstairs, break-in, and sweep the floor?”
“Yes!”

It turns out that he had beaten his mother, and she put him out. I tried to explain that Jesus doesn’t break-in, and only a thief breaks in. “Jesus guards His sheep, but bad people, the thief, comes in through the back door!” Because he had broken in and had beaten his mother, we could not have him come back.

There are no good places in Haiti to put someone like this who has a mental condition. We are going to find a way to help him, but we are going to have prayer for deliverance first. One thing is for sure, “Jesus did not make him do it!”

Sherry

Please pray for Jocelyn. He is poor and has a mental condition.
