Today, Sherry, Ezekiel, Philimond (our driver), and I had some very close calls on the road. We faced some bad roadblocks with gangs in Croix-des-Bouquets. Hundreds surrounded us, and many were beating on our ambulance. (This is the way we had to travel.) We could see all of the emotions of anger, frustration, and hopelessness on their faces. After about “15 scary minutes,” they found out who we were and how we were there to help the people and they let us through!

Soon I will be sending updated pictures of all the workers packing the food in the Dominican Republic. They have been working hard. Our semi and container are ready. We will be picking up all the rice, beans, and cooking oil anytime now. I cannot say when for security reasons. There are 23 food items that the government has banned to not cross the border from the Dominican Republic into Haiti… rice, beans, and cooking oil are three of them!

I want to thank the government of Haiti for giving us special permission to bring these food items to Haiti. Thank you, Nelio, for doing all of the paperwork and getting this done.

Love is something you do!
