Lovely has Faith…

It was about 17 years ago that a Haitian lady, who sold trinkets on the street, told us about a baby girl whose father abandoned her. The baby’s name was “Lovely.” We were told that her mother had HIV and also had abandoned her. So, we took Lovely in. She had lots of health problems and it meant “lots of trips to the hospital,” lots of medicine, and doctor’s care.

Today, Lovely is doing so much better. She is now 17 and in 11th grade here in Haiti. She sings like an “angel,” and wants to be a “lawyer!” She is always sweet, helpful, and honest. She loves church and is always “doing nails” with her other sisters! Lovely is quiet and always helpful. She’s always said she “wanted to be a lawyer!” But, I think she might “change” her mind. The Haitian Creole proverb says, “Lawyers are like scissors; it’s the man in the middle they cut!” I think Lovely is “too sweet,” but let’s watch and see. Everyone here loves her!!! Sherry

P.S. The thing about Lovely, is that “she has great faith in God!”
