Mikael… Always Looking for Work!

In English, we would say “Michael,” but in Creole, it would be Mikael. Little Mikael and his brother, “Ti Tai,” were the children of very poor parents, Marie Julien and Jean Marcel Antoine. Marie died, and he could not care for the children, so he sent them to orphanages. We took Mikael in. He also had poor health and malnutrition when he came, but with good food and plenty of love, he gained his health back.

Mikael is not a typical teen. He loves to work, and he is always up early, working, sweeping mopping, and cleaning the orphanage. In fact, he loves to work! When other kids are “hiding from work,” he is “looking for work!” But, he is always looking for something to eat, even after he is through eating! He’s like a “human garbage disposal!” A “bottomless pit!” But he never gains weight.

We love Mikael. He is always helping us in the Food Distribution Center, and he always does a great job… But, we don’t know if we can afford to keep him! Ha! If he “works for food,” we will go broke!!! Ha! We all love Mikael and he is a great help to us and a great blessing!!!
