The kids here at our Orphanage “love Bobby!” They call him “Poppie,” or “Poppie Bobby!” The little guy is Noah, and the little girl is Ginyia. Noah was abandoned and left in the weeds at our front gate! Ginyia’s mother died during a C-section; her father then abandoned her and left Haiti and headed to the Dominican Republic. She was raised by her “17-year-old cousin,” but when she could no longer take care of Ginyia, she brought her to our orphanage.
When children are raised in an orphanage, they consider each other “brothers and sisters!”Ginyia is a sweet little girl… she loves doing “Praise Dances” with her sisters in church! It has become a “big family,” although we had never thought about having an orphanage! Many years ago, before we even knew anything about Haiti, we had gone to a little church in Melbourne, Florida. There was a visiting evangelist that night. The place was packed, and Bobby and I were standing on one side of the church, watching the evangelist as he prayed for many people, one by one. All of a sudden, he turned around and pointed to Bobby and me. He said, “In the future you will be working in a poor country! You will be living and surrounded by many black children!” We left that night, thinking, “That will never come to pass! We will never be running a big orphanage!” Well, guess where we are now! Never tell God, “Never!”
