New training classes for Poul Mirak: 1-11-18 12:00 PM

You know that our Agricultural Extension Training classes have been very successful in helping Haitians to learn methods to help themselves with gardens to provide food for their families. Now, we are taking student registrations for the new “Poul Mirak chicken school.” One of the objectives of the Poul Mirak chicken co-op was to provide a place for training for more jobs in business and food production in Haiti. We are now ready to extend the success of this program to others throughout Haiti.

Our first session will run from Sunday evening on February 18th until Saturday afternoon February 24th.  This six-day class will cover basic poultry science, and how to raise chickens from one-day-old through egg laying. Students will learn about raising chickens for meat and eggs. It is a residential program where students will live, learn and work together at our Agricultural Training Center (ATC) bunkhouse and the Poul Mirak chicken co-op farm. The cost for registration and tuition is $155 per student, and that includes room and board, instruction, books, a t-shirt and Certificate of Completion. Upon completion, students will have knowledge and skills to raise chickens for meat and eggs either for consumption or as a small business enterprise. Space is limited to six students per session. If you have a student you want to register, or if you would like to sponsor a student for this life-changing sustainability project, please contact Rad at the Love A Child office in Fort Myers 239-210-6107.
