In II Chronicles 14:9-15, Asa was a Godly King over Judah. However, he still knew that the enemy would one day attack! He had formulated an army of 300,000 who carried shields and spears and another 280,000 men who carried shields and drew bows and all were mighty men of war. However, the King of Ethiopia came to battle against him with 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots.
There was nothing to do but “Go to Battle!” King Asa went out and the battle was set in the valley of Zephathah. Immediately Asa cried out to the Lord, “Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many or with them that have no power to help. Oh Lord, our God, we rest in thee! And in thine name we go against this multitude!” II Chronicles 14:11
The Lord not only smote the Ethiopians, but King Asa’s men “spoiled” (took over and cleaned out) everything they had – food, sheep, cattle, and camels in abundance! So there you are… fighting a battle that looks impossible!!! Don’t forget… with God on your side “they” are the ones who are “outnumbered!” And, we know that God will protect us and fight this battle for us, where we are, in Haiti. The gangs may “outnumber us” but “God can outnumber the gangs!!!” We serve a God who has never lost a battle!!!
