Update on our Malnutrition Clinic

This morning, I went to check on our “little prisoners” in our Malnutrition Clinic. They are so precious, but they are scared to death of white people! Ha! I very rarely get a smile!! But we have wonderful people working for us, and they take such good care of the little ones!

Some of these babies had Marasmus Malnutrition, and others had Kwashiorkor, but it won’t be long before they are up and running around.

We had to hire a special guy who followed the mother back home after she left her malnourished baby with us. Sometimes, mothers would rather leave their babies in our care, indefinitely. But we would soon have another orphanage, so this is the best way.

Mothers are always amazed at how good their child looks. Mothers can come back for a box of our “Feed My Starving Children” food. This food saved lives! This is the same food we cook for all the mountain children.

When we put our hands together, we can do more!

Thank you, wonderful partners!

“Don’t Get Tired…”

Sometimes we start out working for the Lord and we get tired. We may get tired of giving, going, or sacrificing. I know myself, living here in Haiti, it is not easy. There are so many needs here and people are always coming up to me, asking if we can pay their house rent, or could we pay for their child’s school payment, etc. Many times they ask us to pay for a funeral or other things. If we are not careful, we could get “tired of giving.” But we must make choices that we feel the Lord wants us to do. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

This is when we must follow our heart and the Lord will guide us in our decision. If we pass up a real need, we cannot reap the blessing that the Lord has for us. Have a blessed day. Follow the Lord and “let Him” make the decision.

“The Little Rascals!”

Look at these “three little rascals!”

Left is Joshua, then Kenzy and Zachary! (Zachary is not angry. That’s his usual serious face!)

These three little guys keep us busy! Joshua is always talking “non-stop!” Kenzy is sweet, but he is a little rascal! Zachary “looks like he’s angry,” but he’s not. (But he definitely is a “mama’s boy!”)

These three guys really keep us busy, which is why we have to “keep THEM busy!” Camy, over the boys, gives them chores to do, like “picking up trash,” etc.

They all like the same things and share toys!

We wish to thank our partners who send in clothing for the children at our Orphanage. If you have clean, used clothing or if you want to buy clothing for boys or girls, you can send the clothing to:

Love A Child, Inc.

Thank you, and God bless you,

POST CORRECTION:

This morning I had said in my post that the police had taken back the police station in Ganthier (8 miles from us). This was misinformation. The police chief of Ganthier came by our office for food today. He said the gangs are still in control of Ganthier. He said they did shoot 10 gang members and captured another 5. Then, the police and military had to retreat and return to the small military camp about 3 miles behind us. We need your prayers more than ever. We are in great peril. We are standing on Psalm 91, trusting in the Lord. We just can’t leave the children.

FOOD UPDATE:

We have been trying since yesterday to bring Feed My Starving Children food to an area in the mountains where everyone is so hungry they are drinking sugar water. The water used is from a dirty river where everyone washes themselves, and there are also animals using this water. This evening at 5 PM we have a meeting with our food crew to figure out how to go there SAFELY. Some of the gang members have run into the mountains I hear in this area. We don’t want to run into them. We are praying for safety.

THE CURRENT SITUATION:

Good news! Yesterday afternoon, a few police and around 12 military men rushed back to Ganthier, where the gangs had gained control of the community. The police took back their burnt-out police station! They shot several gang members and took their guns and a motorcycle. The police captured 5 gang members! The gang members all had new, big guns with 100-pound bags of bullets. Where is this coming from?

Good job, police and the small group of Haitian military.

Thank you for sacrificing your life for us. I heard that one military man was shot yesterday. Please pray for him.

The children and all of us are holding on and doing good.

Thank you for all your prayers and support.

GOD NEVER CHANGES!

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8

The world is on the edge of a new order. The day will come when we preach against sin, and we will be put in prison. The church is growing lukewarm. Many are just teaching and preaching an “anemic gospel.” The world may change, the church may change, and those around you may change. I just want to say one thing this morning… “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever!”

Amen!

Urgent Prayer!

URGENT PRAYER: THE SAVAGE GANGS RETURNED

We are on a “roller coaster” here. In my post this morning, the police had defeated the gangs and held them back in Ganthier. I thought Kenya had helped, but they did not. The gangs retreated, but they returned this afternoon with a total of three gangs merging! The gangs took control of Ganthier and the police had to retreat. The gangs took over the town, burning houses, and robbing everyone.

Good news! This afternoon at 3:00 p.m., the police and the 12 military came rushing by here to try and take back the police station. The police chief called me, and he was frantic! He was yelling and screaming. We are on the way back to fight the gangs.

Please pray! The gangs will come here if they are not stopped. Sherry and I could cross the border in the morning and leave. We just can’t do it. When you have a house full of orphan children that you live with, many of whom we’ve raised since babies, we are their dad and mom. All our employees are like family. We love everyone. We are praying for God’s divine wisdom.

Thank you for your prayers and support from the bottom of our hearts. We love you.

Graduation from Philo

Haiti has 13 grades in school. The last and toughest is called Philo. Yesterday, three of our Love A Child children were in the graduation event, Bobby, Michael, and Hannah (sometimes she goes by Anna).

Our church was “packed full!” We were told it started at 3:00 p.m., and we were there at 3:00, but people kept dragging in late!

(Every young lady looks forward to going to something where she can show off her new hair-do or a special dress!) There are always long speeches (some boring), grads with the “talks,” singing, and special dances!

It was about 90 degrees when we came in at 3:00, and it lasted until 7:00! When the time came for the grads to get their Diplomas, the parents had to go up on the platform and give the graduates a gift! (I’m glad I did my shopping early when I was in the States!)

We are so proud of Bobby, Michael, and Hannah.

But I just found out yesterday that they will have more tests to take! It would seem that all the tests would finish first, and then the graduation, but I’m sure they have a reason for it!

Thank you, partners, who have helped us raise these children since they were very young! Now, they will need to find out what life is all about!

NEWEST HAITI UPDATE:

Last night, three different gangs joined together and attacked Ganthier again, which is 8 miles from us, trying to break through to attack us here in Fond Parisien.

If it were not for the Kenyan Police/Troops coming just in time, the gangs would have taken over Fond Parisien and us here at Love A Child. The gangs had put up big roadblocks in the city of Croix-Des-Bouquets just before Ganthier, but the Kenyans made it through! PTL!

Many people have been killed.

Thank you to the Haitian National Police, Kenya, and the small military (about 12) from out here. We salute you for your courage and bravery. Praying God will protect you.

Thank you, Lord, for watching over us here at Love A Child.

We are standing on Psalms 91.

“Obedience is Better than Sacrifice.”

In 1 Samuel 15th Chapter, is the story of King Saul. He was given a command from the Lord to “go and smite Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel, and ass.” God wanted them “wiped out!” But when Saul went to battle, he did not “obey the Lord!” He took “Agag, the king,” alive, and spared the best sheep, oxen, lambs, etc. When the Prophet Samuel, heard about this, “he cried all night long.” God was furious. He went to rebuke King Saul and then, Samuel killed Agag, the king. He never went to see Saul again. The story brings us to a very important thing. “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to harken, than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22

If you even “think” that God has spoken to your heart to do something or go somewhere, “just do it!” Have a blessed day and listen with your heart when God speaks.
