“Little Samuel” is now five years old and in the 1st grade. He was brought to us at the age of two from the Department of Social Services. His father is unknown (he skipped town) and his mother could no longer care for him, so we took him in.
Samuel is sort of big for his age and very intelligent, but he doesn’t want to sleep at night! And he sings so loudly, “off key,” that all the kids laugh at him, and he laughs at himself! Samuel is a hard-working little boy. All the kids have “chores,” and the boys are always involved in picking up the trash.
His “partner in crime” is Noah! They are “two peas in a pod!” Samuel loves to dance, like Noah. Haitian kids, like most of African descent, have “natural music” in their hands and feet. It is born within them. The children love going for walks and they love “chasing the chickens” to get some “Kentucky Fried Chicken!” Life at our Children’s Home is never dull!
