Baby “Christou” is just one year old. She has not only suffered from malnutrition, but scabies, and many other complications. Christou’s parents were very poor, and living in a bad situation. The baby’s father left his wife and child. To survive, the young mother went to the riverbed to crush heavy rocks by hand, in order to care for her baby and herself. She would also often look for wild “tea leaves” to sell to have food for her baby. She has no land to grow a garden, so “crushing large rocks into smaller ones” is what she does to survive. She has no house, no food, no clothes. No help.

When she arrived at our clinic, she was quickly taken to one of our doctors. The baby was wrapped in a towel, dying of starvation. Our doctor thought that baby Christou would survive, but he still sent the mother with the baby to our Malnutrition Clinic. Now, just look at the difference!
