Rebecca was about three when someone was going to sell her to a man as a “restavek slave child.” Our Director, Nelio, heard about this and immediately made arrangements to bring her to our Orphanage. (I never asked Nelio what he did – all I cared about was getting a three-year-old away from that man!)

The Department of Social Services officially gave her to us. We found out quickly that we were getting another “Jewel.” Rebecca is hard-working, sweet, strong, and athletic! But, she can still “jump rope!” She does well in school and is great in “Praise Dancing!” She is elegant… yet, physically she is very strong! She is always helpful to others and kind. She wants to be a Dentist!!! Oh yes, her nick-name is “Duck!” We love “Rebecca Burnette!”
