Last evening, our porch at our Birthing Center had “expectant fathers,” nervously waiting for their baby to be born. One baby came last night, and another one this morning (we don’t have those pictures yet). There were several pregnant mothers walking around the beautiful porch of the Birthing Center, waiting for their babies to come!
Each morning, all the mothers in the program meet at the Women’s Health and Teaching Center. Each day, they are taught something new… maybe “birth control planning,” maybe how to take good care of their baby, maybe it’s just teaching that it is safe for a mother to bathe, right after childbirth! It’s amazing the superstitions that mountain women have… some stay inside their mud hut for a month, before taking a bath or letting the baby outside! Education is priceless!
Yesterday, the inside of the Birthing Center was filled with Gospel music and there was such peace! One pregnant mother said, “I work so hard, and I have never felt that I had any value, but, I came to this place to have my baby, and I feel as though I am someone important!” Well, they are important! Each mother is priceless, and we want them to know that!
Thank you, partners, for your love and prayers!
