The Basketball Court!

When you live in an orphanage with 85 kids, a dog, a cat, some pigeons, and adults, it can get quite noisy, especially now since everyone is at home. Thankfully, we are on a large piece of property here in Haiti and the kids can play outside. We have “all ages” of kids.

The older ones love soccer and recently, began to love “basketball.” Kaeli, who had been with us here in Haiti, had the kids involved in basketball. We had one of those small, inexpensive, basketball hoops but after the wear and tear of the kids, it broke!  Our friend, Bob, from the states, donated the funds to build a nice, heavy-duty basketball court! Mark and Jesse Ostrander spent a lot of time on the “cement court.” Another donor, Harvey, and his wife had sent in “basketballs and soccer balls!” Brian, from The Mission Church, had volunteered to come to Haiti to help on several projects we have here, including our Malnutrition Clinic. He volunteered to get the basketball hoop up and running!

It was hard work pouring the cement for the large poles. Brian worked hard and the kids helped!! Finally today, Saturday, after a long week, the basketball court was ready! The kids were all over it!!

Moses and Bobby made the first “baskets!” Everyone is having so much fun, and I am so, so, excited that the kids aren’t “driving me nuts!” Special thanks to everyone involved, especially “Bob,” who donated the funds, Mark, Jesse, and especially Brian. The kids are “very happy,” and so are Bobby and I, and all the mothers here at the Love A Child Children’s Home! God bless everyone!!  Bobby and Sherry

P.S. There’s a big talent contest tonight in our cafeteria!!
