Update on the Cave Family Houses

Update on the Cave Family Houses:  When Hurricane Matthew hit southern Haiti, so many people lost their homes and their livelihoods. We have been helping 180 people who had been living in a cave in unbearable conditions. When Joel told me about the cave and I crawled inside there, it changed my life forever. About two months ago, the president told the people they had to leave the cave… and I’m glad he did.

I had promised these families that we would raise the money and build them 50 houses. We started raising the money in March, and have sent the following to “Haiti For Christ” and Joel and Yvonne Trimble, who are our mentors in Haiti and are building the houses 12 hours from here:

$216,000, then sent $17,000 for extra expenses in steel and concrete. Two weeks ago, we sent $12,500 for furniture, and need by faith $25,000 more to put furniture in ALL the houses. ($750.00 per House) These people are sleeping on the concrete floor!

To date, 20 houses are finished, and another 10 houses are 75% finished. The other houses are under construction. The problem we face now is, the houses are very hard to get to and are spread out. We must get block, concrete, steel, water, sand and tin to where they are going to be built. Some are almost straight down a mountainside at the bottom. You almost have to be a mountain goat to get there!

The mountain houses in Fond Rouge are being built on the people’s own land where they lost their house in the hurricane. We are hoping and praying that all of the houses will be finished by the end of August. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your help… we are almost there! Love Is Something You Do! Bobby

PS: The person holding the paper has the names of the family members who are living in the house.
