Update from the Doctors on Djonsly

Dear Friends,

Here is the update on Djonsly from his doctor…

“The aggressive chemo that has given Djonsly significant side effects is no longer working, and his tumors are growing. So, the doctors are going to stop the chemo. They will use surgery to relieve the pressure that is building up in his skull from the tumors, by surgically removing some of the tumor and dead tissue around it. Then, they will hit it with radiation. Baptist recently installed an $80 million proton therapy machine, which is perfect for this. Only 18 of these machines are in the Western Hemisphere. After the radiation, they will send Djonsly to Haiti with mild chemo pills and ask that he return every 6 months to be checked.

So, this is not good news. However, the pediatric oncologist says that if we can get Djonsly to the age of ’20’ or so, the type of tumor he has, will stop growing at that point, and he will be able to live with it.

I can’t tell if the doctor is being overly optimistic because I am the Chairman of the Board or not. However, I know that everyone would rather have the chemo shrink the tumors, which it is no longer doing.

We will need to keep praying! I will let you know as soon as I know his schedule.”

We want to thank the hospital, and those caregivers, and doctors, who wish to remain anonymous, and those who have been coming to give him lessons, and taking Djonsly and his mom to wonderful activities. All of you are “saints!” Let’s continue to pray for Djonsly… God bless everyone! Bobby and Sherry
