Update on Gina

WARNING: GRAPHIC PHOTOS

Today, Kaeli and I, and our missionary friend, Jessica, went to visit the lady we told you about a few weeks ago… Gina. She started with a fever, and only the Lord knows “what else she had,” but the end result was huge, huge bedsores that were terribly infected. Her mother brought her to our Jesus Healing Center, and because she needed specialized care, we sent her to Bernard Mevs, a wonderful hospital here in Haiti.

Bernard Mevs kept her for a week, while we paid her hospital bills. Then, they said they could no longer keep her. We sent Ezekiel, our driver, with our ambulance to pick her up. One of our doctors thought that the hospital in Mirabalais would take her, so our driver and ambulance headed that way, about a four-hour trip. They could not accept her, so we called the driver, Ezekiel, and told him to take her to Ebeneezer, about ten miles up the road from us. They are a wonderful hospital as well, but when they saw how bad she was, and the “huge, open wounds on her bottom,” they could not accept her. Our driver, Ezekiel, had no other choice but to take her back to the General Hospital. However, she did not want to stay there, so she was sent back to her home, not far from our Love A Child outreach.

Today, Kaeli and I, and our friend, Jessica, went with Ezekiel, our driver, and two of our nurses from our Jesus Healing Center. When we walked inside and saw her, we were shocked! She was laying on her side, facing us. When I walked around the other side, I can’t even describe in words what I saw! Half of her bottom area “was missing” on both sides! I could see everything, because “half of her bottom” was completely missing! When they had to turn her over, it took about four people. When the nurses finished cleaning her, as well as they could, one of them said, “put a diaper on her to hold everything together,” meaning all of her skin and bottom layers. I have seen a lot, but I nearly passed out.

I came around the front, and while they were cleaning her, I held her face in my hands and tried to keep from crying. I said, “Gina, Jesus loves you! He wants to take you to Heaven. Do you want to be with him?” She replied, “Yes, I do.” So, I said, “Okay, I want you to repeat this prayer with me…” and I prayed with her. She accepted Jesus.

Kaeli had her iPhone and let Gina listen to some beautiful Haitian Christian music… it was really tough to keep fighting back the tears. I hope and pray, that if it is the Lord’s will, a beautiful Angel will come and get her. Thank you for your prayers. Sherry
