Update on Jean Gardy

Jean Gardy is now 24! He was very young when his mother died. So, his father brought him to our “already over-crowded” orphanage. He is small for his age, but he is a “genius” at money.

He is taking accounting and this is his third year… but even before this, he was controlling all the older kids’ money for transportation and school fees. I would give the money to the older children and they would say, “just give it to Jean Gardy!” Little did I know that he was teaching them how to live on “less” and “save more.”

He put his business mind together with Frantzo, another older brother, and Dieuferly (whom you know), and together, these three built a small “snack shop” on our property. Now, it has grown and they are going to finish a large “block building” to hold more customers. In addition, they are going to figure out how to buy large quantities of rice, beans, etc., and sell them to the local “machanns” (lady sellers). These ladies cannot go to where they sell these items in bulk, due to gangs. But if there was a warehouse at Gwo Maché Mirak, the lady sellers could buy there and re-sell. It is all a good plan.

We are so proud of Jean Gardy. He is gentle, sweet, kind, loves soccer, basketball, and is very respectful! He will go far in his life!!
