1 Samuel Chapter 13: (Continued from Sunday)
Just as Saul finished the sacrifices, he immediately hears the voice of Samuel, who is aggravated because Saul “went ahead and did his own thing,” and “did not wait on the Lord.” He did not wait until Samuel came to do the sacrifice. This was God’s main test for Saul. “Can you be obedient? Can you wait on the Lord?” When Samuel asks Saul, “What hast thou done?” Saul, instead of saying, “I’m sorry, I have sinned against the Lord. Please pray for me.” He instead defends himself and his choice, and he sounds like a modern day teenager saying, “Whatever!” (And walking away.) Samuel is furious. He replies, “But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people…” From that moment on, it was already decided that Saul was not fit to be King. The cost of “not waiting on the Lord,” had cost Saul the Kingdom! Let’s learn to “wait,” and “trust.” God is never late. Sherry
