Word from the Mission Field: 1-16-19 6:00 AM

Remember when David, the shepherd boy, fought against the giant Goliath, and won. Goliath was nine foot something and wore the best armor. David had nothing but a sling and a few stones, but he was “fearless.” It is a story everyone loves. He gained respect, and later, won the King’s daughter, and after years, became King.
Sometimes, when we face a “giant” in our lives, we may not realize that “he may have brothers.” And, sooner or later, we may have to face “those other giants.” In 1 Chronicles 20:3-8, another story pops up. David is again in the battle against the Philistines, and three of the children of Goliath showed up, ready to fight. Three of David’s men “got them.” There was another war, and David and his men killed the brother of Goliath, Lahmi, whose spear staff was “like a weaver’s beam.” (About 7-8 feet long, 2 1/2 inches around with the tip weighing about 15 pounds!) You can imagine how big these giants were if they carried spears that big! Then, they fought another battle after this, facing the “son” of the giant, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot! The good news is that even if we face more giants, God is still on our side. “These (giants) were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants!” Sherry
