Word from the Mission Field

“He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.” Proverbs 22:9

They say it’s hard to heal a broken heart, and that is true. My heart has been broken so many times in Haiti. All it takes to change your heart is to look into the eyes of a child, especially a poor child – one that is dirty, hungry, and full of sores. The heart of a Christian wants to “make the pain go away,” even if it is for a little while.

As the problems in Haiti continue each day, we see more children hungry. But God’s people are always looking for ways to bless the poor, whether it is in the States, in Haiti, or in some other country. Jesus said, “The poor will be with you, always.” We know we cannot feed them all, but God just wants you to feed those He lays on your heart. Maybe it’s the poor lady in the grocery store with kids… she puts her groceries on the counter, and then must put some food back. That should never happen, especially if we are a Christian.

Today, and the rest of your days, God just wants you to keep your eyes, ears, and heart open to the “cry of the poor.” When you do, Psalms 41:1-3 will come upon you to bless you! Have a great day and remember to keep your heart open for the “cry of the poor.”
