“To Whom Shall I Cry?”

We “all” have a story to tell about. We have all faced that “time” in our life, when the sun was not shining, when the waters were “too wide” to cross, and the “mountains” were “too high” to climb! All you could do was to “stand!”

David wrote about something in the Book of Psalms, Chapter 18… “In my distress, I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God.” It was a time before we moved to Haiti. We were “traveling Evangelists,” and although we loved it, we could barely cover our costs and pay our bills. I noticed one morning that Bobby had a “black suspicious-looking” mole on his side. We went to a dermatologist in Florida. He immediately told Bobby, “You have to have surgery,” now! We were broke and had no money, but the doctor had to be paid. The doctor said, “It’s a big surgery, but since you have no insurance or money, I will have to give you a ‘local’ and charge you $800. You can pay later.”

It’s terrible to be poor, so poor that your husband will have to have a huge surgery with a “local anesthetic,” instead of putting him to sleep. We were poor, but God was on our side.  The “cut” on Bobby’s side looked like a large “baseball diamond.” He came through the surgery, and after weeks, we went to find out if there was any more cancer left. I went down to pick up the results and came back to our little tented apartment. Bobby was sitting in the rocking chair, and he said, “I know the cancer is gone. The Lord came into my room while you were gone.” Little by little, we paid off the bill. That was a major time in our lives that taught us, “no matter what,” God is on our side. We will “cry,” unto the “God of our Salvation!” Psalms 18
