Word from the Mission Field

We all know the scripture teaching on “what you reap, you will sow.” This definitely means, “bad seeds as well as good seeds…”

If we “plant” seeds of discord, hate, strife, confusion, etc.” this is what we will reap. If we are “friendly” we will have many friends. If we plant seeds of “mercy” we will reap “mercy” at a time we need it the most. If we plant seeds to help the poor, in due season, we will reap.

When Bobby and I moved to Haiti, we were probably the poorest missionaries here. Other missionaries would make fun of us because we had nothing. One missionary called us one day to tell us that “their organization” had received some used, donated, vehicles from the U.N., and ended the conversation by saying, “so, we ‘who’ is receiving the blessings from their work here in Haiti!” We felt bad. Our two vehicles were always breaking down “in the middle of no-where,” in the mountains.

But, we still continued on, feeding the poor, helping other missionaries, helping them buy parts for their vehicles, etc. But, the day would come when we would begin to “reap.” At the time we needed them the most, after the earthquake, and especially when our large feeding programs increased, God began to bless us. Someone would call and say, “Bobby, the Lord said you have a need. What is it?” When we needed a new truck, we got it.

All of the times we brought the sick in and took care of them, and sent them on to hospitals and paid their bills and blessed them… all those “were seeds.” One day, when Bobby had his bad accident, being run over by his bush-hog in Haiti, we were blessed… or Bobby to be transported to New Orleans and cared for by a very good doctor in the hospital where he worked. And later, the doctor took us into his home and cared for Bobby until he was well enough to return to Haiti! All those “seeds” we had planted, were coming forth!

Galatians 6:9 tells us, “And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season, we shall reap, if we faint not.”  I can assure you, by the Word of God, that those “good seeds” you have been planting will bring forth… 2020 will be the best year of your life, Sherry
