The Prophet Nehemiah was sent to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. He had many obstacles and many enemies. Just because God tells you to do something, “don’t ever think it will be easy,” and “don’t ever think you won’t have enemies,” trying to stop you!
Nehemiah and his people had so many enemies while they were building the wall that they had to “work with a tool in one hand and a spear in the other.”
When Nehemiah was almost finished, some of his major enemies, (Sanballat being one them), asked Nehemiah to meet together in the plain of “Ono,” and they would have a “talk.” But it wasn’t a talk, it was a “plot,” to kill Nehemiah. He told his enemies, “I’m too busy to meet you and I cannot come down from the wall!” They sent for Nehemiah “four more times,” but he would not come. One of Nehemiah’s workers told him, “Let’s all meet together in the House of God.” But Nehemiah knew that this too, “was a plot!” Nehemiah knew that this man, “Delaiah,” was not sent of God, but he was sent to put a “spirit of fear on Nehemiah,” so that he would not finish the wall. Nehemiah’s enemies lead on him and sent letters with lies against him… But he never lost sight of God or His plan.
When the Lord tells you to do something, your own friends may become your enemy. There will be roadblocks that you have never imagined! Be very careful and always “listen with your heart.” There will be people sent from the Devil to try and destroy what God has told you to do…
When Bobby was in the “rat shack” fasting only on water for 21 days, it was during that time that someone came to him and offered him a good job and a way to make a lot of money. He was weak, hungry, and we were broke. But he had to stay “steadfast.” Some people thought he was crazy for staying in that shack and fasting and seeking God. The “gates of Hell” came against him, but he won the battle! Don’t listen to anyone but the Lord. “Try the spirits and see if they are of God.” Have a great day! Sherry
