“God Can Make Your Enemies Your Footstool…”

We all have enemies, but God is in control of anyone who comes against His children.

In the book of Esther, we find that Mordecai, the Jewish leader, had a hateful enemy, Haman. This enemy, Haman, hated Mordecai, because Mordecai would not bow to Haman, like everyone else did. So, Haman devised a plot to not only kill Mordecai, but all the Jews… men and women, child and baby. He did this deceitfully and had the King stamp the decree with his own ring. The day was set aside to kill all the Jews.

Queen Esther had a banquet prepared for Haman so that she could expose him, but even before this, Haman had a “gallows prepared for Mordecai.”

But God had set a “trap” for Mordecai’s enemy, Haman. The King discovered through his records that Mordecai had saved his life… so, the King decided to reward Mordecai. He had Haman put Mordecai on the King’s horse, with the Kings’ crown and lead him through the streets saying, “this is what is done to the one in whom the King delighteth!”

The story is so incredible! The “plot of Haman” is discovered, and Haman is hanged on the same gallows that he had built for Mordecai! The Bible says that “Whoso digs a pit shall fall therein…” Proverbs 26:27

The problem now, was that the King could not “reverse” the decision that was made in the King’s Decree, regarding the killing of the Jews. However, the Lord touched the heart of the King to say, “I cannot reverse the decision for soldiers to kill all the Jews, but we send out a decree to tell all the Jews to fight anyone who tries to harm them!”

But listen to this… “And all the rulers of the provinces, and all the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of the King HELPED THE JEWS; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them!” Esther 9:3

God not only spared Mordecai from being hanged on the gallows and allowed Haman to be hung on the same gallows, but God reversed the decision in such a way, that “enemies of the Jews” helped the Jews to slay 500 men! And the Jews killed another 300, and after that, 75,000. Wow! God made their “enemies” their “footstool.” Do you have an enemy today? God can put them “under your feet!” Read the Book of Esther! Have a blessed day! Sherry
