“Their foot shall slide in due time…” Deuteronomy 32:35
We missionaries are living in perilous times here in Haiti. Gang violence has taken over in most places in Haiti, especially Port-au-Prince and other areas. The gangs (who are resisting the new president of Haiti) are sometimes fighting the police. Other times, the police are part of the gangs! We never know who is who. They burn buildings, rob the poor, take people as ransom, kill, and turn Haiti upside down. It is difficult to continue our feeding programs and food distributions. We have to plan everything in advance and try to figure out when the “good police” are on the road.
In years past, when Haiti had problems, the U.S. would send in the Marines! I cannot tell you what a relief that was to see them back in those times. But now, no one is coming to help the missionaries, and yet, children and parents are hungry and dying from malnutrition. But we cannot give up! God can use “anyone” or “anything” to fight this battle! This battle is not ours, but it belongs to the Lord! We just believe that somehow, someway, “their foot shall slide in due time,” and I hope that when it slides, it slides into a place where they can never get out!
The same God who controls the planets, the stars, the Universe, has His feet on the earth as His footstool. The same God who fought the battles for the Israelites when they were outnumbered can fight this battle anyway He wants!
Today, if you are facing a wall that is “uncrossable,” or a mountain that is “too high to climb,” or a river that is too wide to swim, God is still on your side! He controls your enemy! He will bring you out with a “high hand,” and “their foot shall slide in due time!” So, hands up, and praise the Lord! Sherry
