The Eyes of the Lord…

“Except ye abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.” Acts 27:31

Many years ago, before we moved to Haiti full time, we would make many trips back and forth with teams. One of those places was La Gonâve Island in Haiti. The wooden boats were packed with Haitians, animals, chickens, and other things. It was a three-hour ride over some rough water to the island.

Once, we went in the boat with a team, to do a Mobile Clinic. When we were returning to land, the seas became rough and we found ourselves in a storm. It wasn’t a bad storm, but to me, it was horrible. It was dark and the wind was howling and they were dipping water out the boat, but we made it.

In Acts 27:31, Apostle Paul is sailing to Rome and hit a cyclone storm. They were facing this dark, terrible storm, with waves crashing in on them, day and night. In fact, they could not tell the day from the night, it was so horrible. I cannot imagine the fear that took over. They lost everything because they had to lighten the ship, and threw everything overboard. Then, Apostle Paul said, “except ye abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.” You know the “end of the story.” They stayed in the ship and they were saved.

Today, you may be facing one of the biggest storms of your life. But, don’t give up. Stay on course, no matter what, because the “captain of your ship is Jesus!” Blessings, Sherry
