WE HONOR OUR FATHERS TODAY

“Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” Exodus 20:12

The Bible has much to say about both our earthly father and our heavenly father… We love and honor our fathers today.

I remember when I was two weeks old I was taken away from my natural father and mother. Jake and Dorothy Poteet raised me. Jake Poteet could be no closer to me than a real father!

He died at the Bay Pines Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was in the fifth grade. Jake was a Christian, so good and kind to me. I’ve never shared this I believe, but “till this day, when I think about him late at night, sometimes I cry. I miss you, dad…” Sometimes love hurts…
